Imbolc – the stirring of the Earth

Imbolc 2016
Imbolc altar 2016

The Feminine stirs gently stretching towards the potential light underneath warm layers of soil. With my body I feel the nourishment, with my limbs I predict movement that will propel my body into creating energy by walking, in my skin I know and cherish every breath of the Earth that runs through my blood. I am home, I am safe, I am powerful and gentle. I am in love with everything that is Gaia and all that is me that lives within her. I am a ray of the Sun manifested on Earth. I am a servant and devoted manifestation of all that The Spirit has in store for us, Earthlings. We carry it gently, we merge with the Earth for all the lessons contained within it and within us. What a wonderful journey of becoming, unfolding, stretching into consciousness and manifesting gifts that seem unimaginable, yet very simple.

Walk on Earth with your feet bare, feel how she feels and merge with the rhythms and vibrations of the warm pulsating heart hidden underneath the rich soil and warm protective layer. Imbolc is approaching, things are coming into life. My heart begins to flutter with the knowledge of new possibilities, cleansing, purifying, refreshing my ways and musings and my walk upon the sacred and homely. It is the time to cleanse the home, work on protecting with light and love all that we cherish dear. It is time to light the Fire of new possibilities, new births within our souls and listening to that gentle voice that is approaching us beneath the layers of the Earth, calling us into new ways of being, new adventures and explorations.

Blessed Imbolc, Gaia calls for renewal and peace

Brigit dances in the light of the Sun with her hair flying free in the fresh breathe

You stretch your arms and straiten your body, rise up as if you are a tree growing from the Earth to the Sky and let your face immerse into the Sunshine of the season, all the possibilities that it brings

Birth yourself all over again with the turn of the Wheel.

Words to describe this festival are feminine energy, returning to light, internal Fire, candles, birth, purification, poetry, creating arts, home, moving towards the Sun

At Imbolc all those creative ideas, plans, visions, stirrings of the heart that excited and propelled you into possibilities present an opening into becoming, showing ways to manifest and keep that Fire going. It is reminiscent of the New Moon energy where we plan, we seed and we watch something grow. Imbolc is the time to tune into all that is possible.

At this time we might want to ask ourselves bigger questions like Can I do this? Am I part of the bigger picture? Am I capable, worthy, strong enough? Feel your way into experiencing this ‘cracking open’ moment, slow, careful, gentle, but intentive, focused and inevitable. You are what you believe you are, your strength is just as real as the Heat of the Sun or the movement of the ocean or the greenness of trees in mid-summer. Embody the carrier of that Fire torch, Brigit, the Goddess of home and creativity, nurturing and birth and as you accompany her on her journey through the land during Imbolc, days before and after, feel your feet firmly on the ground and your heart wide open to all that is possible.

The King returns

January productivity – before Imbolc

Raw Nature Spirit

January – the month of masculine energy.

Towards the end of December after The Winter Solstice every year I find myself full of ideas and overflowing with creativity. My strong focus and energy around that time is directed towards ‘doing’, manifesting, creating, putting ideas into action. I am in alignment with masculine energies and its active principle.

Every year it is the same and the connection is clear. As the Sun is born and the King returns, masculine is once again at force and Fire qualities of passion, determination, focus and motivation come to life within me. I cherish this time of year and embrace it fully and it is when I do most of my projects. Ideas come into my awareness one by one like a flowing energy right from the source and I must ‘do’ while the Fire is at its hottest. The energy is powerful and invigorating…

Winter and the 6th plane of consciousness

winter in the Himalayas
Himalayas in Winter

Winter is the perfect time to get in touch with the plane of consciousness most often characterised by its purity and magic ghost-like appearance, which stops us breathing in the moment we get in touch with it. We become the sky, the clouds and the cold air it possesses and its grip is intoxicatingly pulling towards all the qualities that it contains – purity, innocence, translucent untouchable sense of weightlessness. It is the plane of the Pure Self!

Quoting notes from one of my college lectures ‘Consciousness is impersonal at this level, immaculate, pure, and free of impressions… it is utter stillness, freedom, solitude, clarity, indifference, detachment, serenity and spaciousness.’

It is cold there, it is pure white, it is desolate and completely abandoned in a sense there is no one or nothing just spirit it its purest and naked form. It is invitingly bright and sparkly with crystals as mineral beings feeling at home.

Humans, who are deeply impressed by this plane find it difficult to be on the Earthly plane due to their constant longing for perfection. For those, meditating on the lower planes of consciousness would be beneficial learning to disengage from their perfectionist ideas of life and recognise limitations.

Winter when you are in the mountains, forests, empty open spaces, which covered in a thick blanket of snow sparkling in the sun or amongst ice bluish whitish in appearance where you can see through layers underneath is the season to wonder about connecting to the 6th plane of consciousness and communicating, witnessing the spirit in its purest form with integration into ourselves. Experience how it makes you feel, what lessons you take away from meditating on the plane and how, in your own life, qualities of this plane manifest for better or worse.

Having come from Siberia I am no stranger to extreme cold weather and snow. For the last 20 years I have missed the wonder of the season so much being away from the environment so familiar to me. We had no real snow or winter here in the UK for some time. There is nothing I adore more about this season than to wake with the Sun and witness frosty appearance of the land and trees around me. With bright sunshine it is magically enticing to all my senses and I feel invigorated by colder temperatures. Today we have temperatures in the minus, ahhhhhh, winter is no winter until temperature drops below zero in my book, till you can really feel that bite in the air and feel it in your body. I possess no perfectionist mind yet I am drawn to qualities of purity and detachment and as long as there is awareness of all the other planes and qualities that come with it and moving regularly between them, exploring those qualities and limitations within yourself it is great learning and oh, such beautiful experience. Meditation is a way to connect with the spirit using music, images or places you visited and drawn to. It is a way of transporting yourself into consciousness you wish to connect with at any given moment. We can all do it. It is such rich and abandoned way to tune in to the Universal Whole with all its glory and limitations.

Are you drawn to this plane of consciousness? Do you feel at home in these places and the season of winter?

Business success and prosperity Spell

spell casting in nature

To reinforce my increasing Fire energy of productivity this month (read my post on Fire element and productivity HERE), which is usually the case on a yearly basis, this morning I am drawn to doing a Success, Business spell. I feel that warm fire burning within me and a spell materialises within my awareness and I feel propelled into action. I sit down and create a spell using my intuition and collecting all the information that is flooding into me this morning and within minutes I know what to do and how. I select the wording I like, collect and prepare all the tools and decide to go out to do this spell work in the woods. You can certainly do it at home too, in your sacred space, whatever you are drawn to in the moment I always encourage going with that, always.

As I walk towards the woods I feel incredibly excited and buzzing with the electricity of the Sun, which is shining bright this morning. It is chilly, but I so very much like the cold. It invigorates all of my senses, I feel alive and ready for action. I walk fast and smile all the way to the place I also knew intuitively I was going to this morning. It is a different place I chose from my usual sacred Nemeton. I felt that, or rather intuitively knew, that switching places for your magic work sometimes can create new energies and it allows for the flow of energy to move freely when, perhaps, it is not confined always to one place. I also had a sense of this big hug, embrace of the whole archetype of the woods, expanding my sense of belonging, if you like. I wanted to include all of it within me. I bow, as I walk into the grove.

I am intuitively drawn to a tree root, which is perfect for this type of spell, as not only trees have been my most vital sources of guidance, support and lessons, but their roots are super important to me, as they are touching Gaia and her energy is flowing through these magnificent forest giants. It is that energy I want to tap into.

I create a mini circle and here is the spell in action: materials you use, the order you do things in, chanting, etc.

SPELL

Yarrow – for Luck and Bay Leaf for protection and stability

A bee is a spirit animal of success, abundance and also vibes with hard work, perseverance and endurance.

It is a Fire and Earth spell based mainly on the male energies, which are around this time of the year.

Post-spell I am filled with this incredible joy of yet again having connected with the magic of the forest, Earth and nature. I put my arms around a tree and instantly images of luxurious nature come to me. I also had an idea of a new magic book I need to produce come to me in that moment. This is so beautiful in a felt sense I am bursting with joy. As I walk out of the woods I really do feel like I did some serious work and I bathe my face in the winter Sun standing still for a while before bowing to the grove saying ‘I love you so much!’

On my return I drink a blend of tea, which is ‘feminine’ in nature. Intuitively again and this is very important to me in my magic work, I am drawn to balancing the energies. As most of the work this morning had male energy origins and qualities I had to invoke were of Fire predominantly, I feel I need to balance them out with my feminine energy and I drink this tea, which is delicious and ahhhhhh. I have a deep sense of belonging, comfort and home. You can make your own blend of herbs to empower your feminine flow daily.

FIRE element and productivity

Fire_EyeHow to become more focused, driven, motivated and goal-oriented for whatever task you are seeking to engage with and complete?

It is often quite a difficult alchemical process for so many of us to access that ‘get go’ feeling, to motivate yourself into doing something productive, necessary, exciting and important. We procrastinate, we distract ourselves, we kid ourselves that it will come and somehow miraculously it will get done. We deny ourselves a chance to explore what is underneath our postponement of life essentially.

Exploration is one way of accessing the layers unseen preventing us from propelling into a flowing life of action, feeling, engagement and fulfilment. This can apply to all life tasks from doing the dishes to writing, from fixing something to starting a big project. Some of these things seem out of reach and they forever remain in our fantasy of ‘oh, perhaps, tomorrow’, other things are ever so much more pressing, necessary tasks to be performed for a fully functioning life.

What do we achieve by digging deeper? We, first of all, allow ourselves a chance to find something out. We also allow ourselves to feel whatever needs to be felt. We put ourselves under a microscope and really see ourselves in that moment. That is priceless. Often just that one act of allowing and questioning yourself when something isn’t working can begin a process of unfolding and lead to some revelations followed by a change in behaviour. If we did this with all our hang-ups, triggers, things that stop us in our tracks and honestly just bring a mirror close to it to see what is behind that feeling that is blocking the life flow. Powerful process.

With productivity in particular Fire element is important. It is a manifestation of our driving force and inner courage to be in the dark but constantly driving towards light. It is about not giving up, but walking through obstacles and dealing with it one by one with understanding and acceptance. It is about honour and integrity and love for all that supports us.

What helps me to get in touch with that Fire of productivity when I have a project I must get on with, a deadline I must meet, a report I have to produce, etc. I visualise myself stepping into Fire in my creative imagination and witnessing myself burn, but with strength and power, enjoyment of transforming into something so bright that nothing can overshadow it. I become Fire, I fling my arms up and down in it, I feel the heat, I embrace the discomfort of doing something I might not want to do, but with a deep knowing that not only I can do it, I can do it damn well. I do not allow myself to lose focus.

On my desk I light a red candle to my right and I let it burn as I write. I feel such support and comfort in the flame burning next to me like a torch, which is constant amidst all of my resistance. I stay firmly in my chair and I focus. Through staying in that state, I begin to enjoy that powerful drive produced by the Fire qualities within me and I find myself speeding up, focusing even more and soon enough I am at the finish line.

Invoke Fire when you need to feel driven, focused, and passionate about something and concentrate on the end goal without an option of giving up until it is done.
