Intuition is honed sharply when amidst the elements due to all senses being awake and it leads you exactly to what you wish to bring into being. Stones, branches, twigs, moss, leaves, plants, feathers and flowers can be used when weaving spells.

For this time of year with Lammas spells for abundance are particularly called for with harvest coming in. The energy is up till the 19th August.

Summer and patience

What is patience? It is allowing. When things are being as they are we stand in observance of what is. I find it deeply healing, humbling and liberating when there is no fight against what one thinks should be because there’s a discomfort present. Where there is no resistance a space opens up for observing what is being and living in that moment. Summer is a hot season, of course, it is, that’s the nature of things and when it is hot in summer things are aligning to the vibration of what summer means. It is not cold or raining all the time, although it is sometimes, it is simply being what it is.

I have experienced a high degree of tolerance towards summer this year. It happened due to conscious effort not wanting things to be something else and me desperately wanting to change it. That never works. This can be applied to so many aspects of growth and healing when we drop resistance and allow things into being there’s a release of freedom of attachment to what we think should be in order for us to be soothed. There’s a lot to be said for being uncomfortable, however if one fights it actively it will always persist and increase in its intensity.

I stood back or rather decided to travel alongside summer this year and observe everything there’s to witness about the season rather than shutting myself off from the experience and waiting for it to be over. Such a waste. By being present with summer I noticed how present I have been with everything else and everyone around me, every day, every week, every event and moment shared with those in my life. The value of everyday presence overtook my resistance and dislike of summer. I found I didn’t want to complain or participate in the fight within, which had previously been there always. Instead I lived each day and found a lot of positive aspects in the season.

I have been patient and allowing with myself and the summer to be what we are meant to be, living, moving, flowing and grateful for experiences granted.

It is not wanting to cut off a part of the whole, which can be applied to the seasonal wheel of the year, as well as parts of ourselves. We will always have preferences for certain seasons and aspects and ways of being and that is not to say that lessons and joy can’t be found in less preferable places, in fact, those aspects that we mostly resistant to carry some of the most vital and profound teachings.

Patience is a beautiful way of being in a state of non-judgement, slow flowing with energies just as they are and allowing expression of all that is necessary. It is acceptance and a silent stance of holding a space.

Abundance at Lughnasadh

I have been having dreams about food in the run up to Lammas. A lot of food, plenty of nourishment provided. Happy dreams, overflowing with gifts. Dreams of festivities and cheer that left me feeling ‘full’ and satisfied, possibly even having more than needed. Abundance dreams like all dreams are a reflection of our inner worlds, unconscious material seeking to be known, our inner thoughts and conditions of the psyche. It seems I am feeling fulfilled and abundant from within. It does align with how I feel in my waking life these days.

This signature of abundance, however, is a fairly new one for me. I have been gently transitioning from a position of ‘lack’ into a position of ‘abundance’ over the last year or so and now feel comfortable in a place where abundance is present and I understand the meaning of ‘having it all available to me at any time’. Whether we feel poor or rich, which doesn’t just apply to monetary wealth, is closely linked to the thoughts that we think, our past patterns of living a life, stories that we have been telling ourselves, voices that we hear from the past all year round. It is about re-writing those stories and changing the tone of voice we use when communicating with ourselves. It is also about changing perspective and defining what abundance is to us, what it means exactly and exploring whether our understanding of it had been skewed and perception incorrect, hence often chasing something unimaginable and unachievable. Abundance signature comes into force when a vibration of gratitude is present. I found two go together. The more you feel gratitude deeply and authentically for the things that you do have, the more abundant you will feel. I used a metaphor recently with my father, who has very different views on abundance. We talked about big houses and luxurious mensions and palaces and how one should always strive towards wealth and prosperity whatever we do (my father would say). He comes from a ‘poverty’ mentality, which had been transmitted on to me for many years. He is absolutely convinced that everyone without exception wants to be rich, how can anyone ever not want that? But do they? I spoke of not needing a palace, golden chandeliers and marble floors with many rooms, why would I? What would I do with it all? My perspective is different. As I have been detaching slowly from the signature of ‘lack’, the seeming wanting of things turned into questioning of whether I need it. I felt liberated and fulfilled. I spoke of having a golden palace within and how when it is within it is not needed on outside. I began thinking of having enough and being content with what I already had – gratitude practice again. It is incredibly powerful.

Now at Lammas when the first harvest is upon us and the earth is ready to gift us with food I am thinking of ‘personal’ harvests, achievements and successes this year. It’s been a year of quick ripening and manifestations. For the last month abundance has been present much stronger. I can literary feel it as I handle money or prepare food for my family or look through things in shops and realise that everything that I need I already have. I have explored frugal living and it has been one of the most positive and enjoyable vibrations I have experienced. I realised I loved planning, saving and budgeting. It is incredibly satisfying and again I understood how little we really need and how happiness is not necessarily connected to what we have, who we are with, but what’s on the inside within us and how we perceive the world around us, which includes thoughts and attitudes we wake up with every morning.

Lughnasadh, a festival often gone almost unnoticed for me is very significant this year. All festivals for me have been redefined and fine-tuned over the last year and my observance of the seasons have become a deep spiritual undertaking. I listen to the seasons, as my guides. Nature remains sacred and ever knowing, the best reflector and life companion. This year I am reflecting on abundance and experiencing it all around me. Fruit is ripening much sooner and growing much faster and in large quantities: tomatoes, apples, pumpkins. Berries are abundant on bushes. I don’t think I have seen so many and quite early in previous years. Nature is reflecting the vibration of rich and lush conditions to me, which feels quite overwhelming. When in Scotland, Isle of Mull, last month my experience of the abundant environment got a bit too much.  I felt exposed to almost too much clean air, too much pristine space and abundant greenery and clean water. It was strikingly overwhelming and created realisations in my awareness how I am not used to the signature of ‘it is all available to me in quantities I need and much more’. I get it now and I feel so grateful I am overflown with golden light and warmth (that’s what gratitude feels like to me in the physical) within.

This Lammas I am hopeful for a bountiful harvest for everyone and us taking our achievements and successes into next year. Having filled up our cups with the earth’s gifts let it sustain our productivity throughout colder months and keep us grateful for everything that we have.

Lammas 2016

Lammas is the first harvest festival of the year when fresh Earth produce is coming in thick and fast and my kitchen is overflowing with vegetables, berries, colours, smells and textures.It is during this time I say thanks to the God and the Goddess for providing and nurturing my family and sending the joy of harvesting into my soul.

  
It is a special feeling to pick ripe vegetables and smell them and then eat it. The cycle of life becomes present for me at this turn of the wheel. When I hold a ripe cucumber or a beetroot in my hand I remember when those were only minute seeds on my palm ready to be planted. I always thought of it as a bit of a miracle to see such abundance manifesting from a few tiny seeds. I feel very blessed and grateful during this time of year.

It is also about eating and cooking for me before and during Lammas. Produce is fresh and ready for using in cooking and making pickles. This week I prepared courgette and cucumber pickles. Jams will be next made of raspberries and currents.
I also make salads, soups, stews and it is an utter joy.

Lammas Full Moon magic 2015

What is Magic?

It is a state of being when one is in alignment with the universal energies and able to focus their intention on bringing the energies together to manifest what is needed and desired. It is manipulation of energies and the ability to direct its flow in a direction and form that will bring a need or a desire to fruition.

Today we are celebrating Lammas 2015, the very first harvest festival of the year when Celtic God Lugh is present in its power of creativity, skill and talent. Today we are reflecting upon our results and looking back at the seeds that we had sown back in spring. Today we see the harvest of our labour, as it is in nature, so it is within us. We went through a cycle of birth and death and transformation again and again to get to this point when our labour is rewarded with fruits of imagination, intent and devotion to the path, craft, job, vocation, family, etc. It is gathering together in the moment of truth, here it is, we are here in this moment to witness what IS in front of us and make a decision on the direction forward.

Our allotment has been giving us gifts for the last couple of month and today, as I walk along the vegetable beds I smell maturity, nourishing scent of soil and a call to dig dipper into the Earth to bring up yet more gifts laying beneath. I dig up some carrots and what a satisfaction, as I pull them out one by one with anticipation and joy no knowing the exact shape, size or colour. In parallel with our own inner intentions when we set them we aim to achieve what we desired yet there is a state of unknowing that we have to be with, always, and it is beautiful, that feeling of anticipation of not knowing what is to come, what is going to manifest exactly. That is magic.

Moon cycles are important aspect in magic and each cycle corresponds to a particular phase in our reality and what we wish to manifest.

With the New/Dark Moon we plant seeds within our reality, our psyche wishing to see results manifesting all the way up to the Full Moon.

When the Moon is waxing we look to bring things IN, to bring IN more of what we desire.

At Full Moon, many spells will work great looking to maximise whatever you desire or to confirm something. Abundance, Success, Peace and Love spells will power up during magic working at Full Moon.

When the Moon is waning we release, let go of anything that no longer is serving us on our path towards wholeness.

Lammas Blue Full Moon ritual and spell (31/1 August 2015)

I love performing Fire spells during Full Moon. Fire is such an active, dynamic, passionate and alive element, in which one can feel the energies of propelling things forward, burning away anything that stands in the way with an aim to clear the path for more beautiful things to come into our reality.

I did a Sigil spell this Full Moon. The energy was very concentrated and potent during this calm, mild and clear summer night. I sat outside with my Sigil rolled up ready for the burning ceremony in front of my cauldron. I felt great, energised and gazing into the silvery disc of the Lady Moon, I inhaled her deeply and exhaled any residue, which had no part in my being anymore.

I lit a red candle and placed my sigil in the flames focusing on the desire, wish, need, which was within the sigil and playing with the Fire through my eyes and hands I went deeply into the magic of working the energy. It danced and changed, increased and decreased in its intensity, faces came up in the wax and the flames, as well as ashes of the paper burnt. Mesmerising and deeply knowing feeling enveloped my senses as I sat on the grass watching the Fire burn. Beautiful!
